How is the bioenergetic approach different from conventional medicine?

Both, conventional and bioenergetic medicine define health as a state of well-being, with all body systems working in balance (“Homeostasis”). Conventional medicine classifies disease by its perceived material cause and acts to suppress the cause and the symptoms. For example, sinusitis is believed to be caused by either a viral or bacterial infection traveling from the nose as a typical complication of a common cold. When you are sick with sinusitis, you go to the doctor for your diagnosis and prescription drugs such as antibiotics, decongestants, and antihistamines. You usually feel better after a time and consider yourself cured. However, the drugs have side effects, potential contraindications and toxification, while the sinusitis often returns with the next cold as the actually root cause has not been addressed.

The bioenergetic approach considers disease as distortions in the human body-field that correlate to the symptoms of illness. The latest research shows our body-field regulates energy and information at a sub-cellular (quantum) level, acting as the master control system regulating our body’s physiology. It is the “information-software” that directs the organism’s “energy-hardware”. Our body and its body-field are interdependent, each arising from the other and interacting with one another. Distortions in the body-field, if left uncorrected, correlate to the symptoms of illness.

Consequently, bioenergetic practitioners do not focus on a specific illness or disease label, but focus instead on correcting the body-field by clearing blockages and distortions that correlate to physical and emotional stress and trauma, as well as environmental and chemical toxins, thereby restoring the body's inherent healing qualities in a natural and safe way, frequently far beyond what we typically experience with our chronically compromised bodies.
