Thursday, June 21st, marks International Yoga Day, a day promoting global health, harmony, and peace through the medium of meditation and bodily posture.
Dating back thousands of years, the beginning of yoga practices were intended to cultivate a state of higher consciousness and awareness.
As yoga spread over time, making its way into the western world, the reasons for practicing have spread as well.
Many continue to practice yoga as it was originally intended, but today, its purpose has shifted from solely a mental and spiritual practice, to now also reaching the physical realm.
Despite which way your reasoning leans for breaking out your yoga mat, the root of yoga has always remained as getting at the core of one's self, to make the mind-body connection, promote energy to flow freely throughout one's energetic field, and to promote overall wellness.
Sounds a lot like bioenergetics to us . . .
Prior to the advancements in bioenergetics, tapping into one's energy field consisted heavily of meditation, just like yoga.
Now, making headway in healthcare, bioenergetics serves as a valuable complement to the practices of yoga, as we are now capable of going beyond the intangible idea of energy, to now seeing a concrete representation of our own body's energetic field, called the Human Body-Field.
The ability to scan the Human Body-Field and the energetic distortions that lie within, allows individuals to get at the root of their issues, by correcting the distortions at the source, for their overall mental, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.
So whether you're working on your meditation to promote free flowing energy and mental calmness, or stretching your ligaments to eliminate body soreness, there's a bioenergetic protocol waiting to complement your triangle pose.
Happy International Yoga Day!

P.S. Would you like to incorporate bioenergetics into your life and see your own Human Body-Field?
